Fields are plowed in the early spring, turning green manure and cover crops under to build soil quality and prepare for seeding and transplanting.

Summer
Summer means continuous work for farmers, as they put in successive plantings, battle bugs, and cultivate plants to keep weeds down. The toolshed provides storage for equipment and a place to get out of the hot summer sun.
Fall
In autumn fields are cleaned up and either planted with fall cover crops or treated with compost and manure. In this way, the soil gains nutrients over the winter and is ready for planting in early spring.
